Probably the last thing on your mind, but nonetheless very important in the grand scheme of things. You will need a rear regulation number plate to drive on UK roads and you will need to have this with you before you collect your trailer from us.
If you are well organised and planning ahead, buying a number plate online is a quick and easy method. If you are looking for somewhere a little more local to us, then why not try Witney Motorist Centre in Witney High Street. You will need the V5 document for your vehicle that you would like the number plate made up in the registration of and you UK Driving License Photo ID.
Usually costing around £12.00, most places will make up your number plate for you while you wait.
Want to find out more about your legal requirements for a number plate whilst towing a trailer, click the button below.
The rules on what you can tow are different depending on when you passed your driving test.
If you passed your car driving test on or after 1 January 1997 you can:
If you passed your car test before 1 January 1997 you’re usually allowed to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8,250kg MAM.
You’re also allowed to drive a minibus with a trailer over 750kg MAM.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the vehicle you are using to tow with and your driving license are correct before you hire from us. We will work with you to make this as easy and painless as possible, but if you are not sure, just give us a call, we are here to help and make life as easy as possible for you!
The last piece of documentation we will need from you is a Utility Bill that has the same address as that of your Driving License and that is under three months old.
Without this documentation, we will not be able to hire to you.
If you are an individual hiring from us, before we can let you loose with our equipment to go on your adventure, whatever and wherever that may be, we need to take a deposit from you. Our deposits vary over the three categories of Trailers, Roof Boxes and Bike Carriers
Trailers - £250.00 deposit
Small Trailers - £150.00 deposit
Deposits are preferred in CASH but can be taken by card, but there will be a delay of 3-5 days upon return of the hired goods in the same condition as hired to you for the deposit to be returned into you bank account. There is also a 3% charge for all card transactions on deposits extra to the charges stated above.
Our deposits cover the risk of damage to our hired goods whilst in the control and responsibility of our customers. Should our goods be damaged in the time of the hire by our customers directly or indirectly, the deposit will be used against any immediate cost relating to making the hired items good. Where the cost exceeds that of the deposit, the customer should refer to our T&C's. All our goods remain on hire at the daily rate shown until they are repaired to their original state and this cost can also be taken from the deposit amount where applicable.
We are happy to take card transactions, but like all things in life, these things cost. All card transactions will be liable to a 3% card transaction fee at the time of taking the payment.
We are happy to accept online payments to save cost and will be happy to supply details upon request and in advance of your hire. At the same time, we are happy to take good old fashion cash!
All payments will be fully receipted by us at the time of transaction, so you are always covered.
